Position Summary:

We are building a new frozen seafood production facility in Lebanon, IN, and are looking for a Project Engineer to be based at this location. This position is part of Gorton’s corporate engineering group and will support business objectives by identifying, preparing, and managing facility, processing, or packaging projects. Typical projects may include process and packaging equipment & automation, building construction and modification, new and/or modified production lines for new products, utilities/infrastructure, material handling engineering, and safety engineering. The Project Engineer will interface daily with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Engineering. This position will report to the Director of Engineering.

What you’ll do:

  • Onsite engineering liaison during the construction of the new facility, working with the corporate engineering group, general contractor, and subcontractors.
  • Support installation of all production equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during startup and continuous operation of production systems.
  • Work with maintenance and operations to solve problems and generate efficient production lines.
  • Identify areas for process improvements.
  • Execute and manage capital projects.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a food processing facility or CPG manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing capital projects.
  • Knowledge of food processing equipment and hygienic design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, varied assignments simultaneously.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks a plus.
  • Ability to travel for project related work up to 5-10% at other domestic facilities, and vendors.
